My Journey

I first discovered the role of speech-language pathology (SLP) in trans healthcare in 2013, when I had the opportunity to volunteer at the ASHA Convention (a world-leading education event for voice, speech, and hearing professionals).

Upon my return to university — eager to learn more about the topic — I was met by the disappointing realization that no such material was included in the curriculum. Determined to work alongside queer folks, I began to look for external resources that could further my understanding of this intersection of gender expression and speech-language pathology. It was during this journey that I discovered the groundbreaking book, "Voice and Communication Therapy for the Transgender/Gender Diverse Client: A Comprehensive Clinical Guide" by Dr. Richard Adler, which became my guiding light. Upon finishing the book, I flipped over the back cover and decided to contact Dr. Adler for guidance. He has since been a mentor to me, alongside trans folks who have paved the way for the industry.

While receiving mentorship to establish my own practice catering to the trans and queer community, I simultaneously gained valuable experience working in educational settings, specifically focusing on supporting neurodivergent youth. This dual journey allowed me to develop a comprehensive understanding of the diverse needs within marginalized communities and pilot speech-language pathology programs across the United States, Spain, and Brazil.

Since 2020, I have dedicated my work to supporting the trans and queer community on their unique journeys. In addition to my degree in speech-language pathology, I became certified in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), which helps individuals shift limiting beliefs and overcome mental barriers, and I am currently enrolled in Somatic Experiencing—a trauma-informed approach that focuses on nervous system regulation to support healing and resilience.

By combining these modalities, I help my clients not only find their authentic voice but also foster a deeper mind-body connection and reclaim their sense of self-worth. What began as a focus on voice techniques has evolved into a holistic approach, empowering clients to heal, thrive, and express themselves fully.
