My Journey

I first discovered the role of speech-language pathology (SLP) in trans healthcare in 2013, when I had the opportunity to volunteer at the ASHA Convention (a world-leading education event for voice, speech, and hearing professionals).

Upon my return to university — eager to learn more about the topic — I was met by the disappointing realization that no such material was included in the curriculum. Determined to work alongside queer folks, I began to look for external resources that could further my understanding of this intersection of gender expression and speech-language pathology. It was during this journey that I discovered the groundbreaking book, "Voice and Communication Therapy for the Transgender/Gender Diverse Client: A Comprehensive Clinical Guide" by Dr. Richard Adler, which became my guiding light. Upon finishing the book, I flipped over the back cover and decided to contact Dr. Adler for guidance. He has since been a mentor to me, alongside trans folks who have paved the way for the industry.

While receiving mentorship to establish my own practice catering to the trans and queer community, I simultaneously gained valuable experience working in educational settings, specifically focusing on supporting neurodivergent youth. This dual journey allowed me to develop a comprehensive understanding of the diverse needs within marginalized communities and pilot speech-language pathology programs across the United States, Spain, and Brazil.

Since 2020, my sole dedication has been supporting the trans and queer community on their unique journeys. In addition to my degree in speech-language pathology, I pursued certification as a Neuro-Linguistic Program Practitioner and Hypnotherapist to better support my clients in mindset development and overcoming limiting beliefs.

Throughout my journey, my work has organically evolved from solely focusing on voice techniques to encompassing a holistic approach. Now, I have the privilege of assisting my clients not only in refining their voices but also in nurturing their self-worth and mind-body connection.
